Jimmy Lu, General Partner of iD Ventures America, is actively
involved with iDVA's portfolio companies and their management
in his role as a director or advisory board member to a number
of corporations across iDVa's different investment areas. Jimmy
continues to seek out and develop promising investment opportunities
for iDVA in companies that leverage unique hardware and software
technologies offering demonstrable cost savings and enhanced
profits to business customers. Jimmy also sees the continued
growth and maturation of the Internet economy and enabling technologies
that support it as an ongoing opportunity for venture capitalists
and entrepreneurs to exploit current market conditions to create
outstanding teams and highly profitable and sustainable market-leading
businesses. Jimmy's recent areas of investment activity and
interests include focused enterprise software, network security
and infrastructure, artificial intelligence and human interface
technologies.
Since 1992 and most recently as General Counsel of the Acer
Group, Jimmy has taken a leading role in the Acer organization's
international M&A, joint venture and other strategic alliance
transactions. Prior to joining Acer, Jimmy was associated with
J.P. Morgan in New York, where he held direct line responsibility
for managing banking and corporate finance services for a broad
range of Fortune 500 and middle market clients, and then McCutchen,
Doyle, Brown & Enersen in San Francisco, where he specialized
in M&A, corporate and securities matters and represented
emerging growth technology companies.
Jimmy received his B.A. from Yale College in 1977, his M.B.A.
from Harvard Business School in 1981 and his J.D. from the University
of California/Berkeley (Boalt Hall) in 1986. He has authored
many business and legal articles and has been a speaker at numerous
conferences sponsored by international and local professional
organizations and associations.
